Kurtopia Radio Goes Live

A fully self-hosted internet radio service — built from scratch exclusively for the Kurtopia community — brings professional broadcast quality, station identity, and artificial intelligence to the virtual airwaves.
Kurtopia is pleased to announce the launch of Kurtopia Radio, a custom-designed internet radio broadcasting system that streams music live to residents across the grid. Unlike off-the-shelf solutions, every component of Kurtopia Radio was designed, built, and tailored specifically for the Kurtopia community — from the music library and stream controls to the artificial intelligence that announces each track.
The system broadcasts three dedicated streams simultaneously: Kurtopia Radio, the main social stream serving the grid’s gathering spaces; Kurtopia Club, a higher-energy channel for events and dance venues; and Kurtopia Ambient, a relaxed lounge stream for quieter regions. Each stream operates independently with its own playlist, settings, and character.
“We wanted something that felt truly ours — not a playlist link dropped into a parcel, but a real radio station with its own identity, its own voice, and music we’ve personally curated.” — Kurt LoveLord, Kurtopia Grid Administrator
At the heart of the system is a music library of over three thousand tracks, hosted on dedicated hardware and served directly to listeners. A custom administration portal provides full control over playlists, stream management, and broadcast settings. Playlists can be built by hand, loaded from saved collections, or generated automatically by genre at the click of a button, drawing randomly from the library to create fresh listening experiences.
Station identity is woven throughout the broadcast. Between music tracks, Kurtopia’s own station jingles and promotional announcements play automatically, giving the streams a polished, professional radio feel. The frequency of these station breaks is fully adjustable, allowing the balance between music and branding to be tuned at any time without interrupting the stream.
The most distinctive feature of Kurtopia Radio is its AI DJ — a broadcast personality named DJ Ollama, powered by a locally-hosted artificial intelligence running on dedicated hardware within the Kurtopia network. When active, DJ Ollama listens for each track change and generates a unique, spoken introduction — delivered in a natural voice — that announces the artist, teases what’s coming next, and signs off in its own style. The DJ’s personality, voice, and tone are all configurable, with options ranging from upbeat and energetic to warm and laid-back.
The entire system — from the streaming infrastructure to the AI and the administration interface — was conceived, engineered, and deployed as a bespoke project for Kurtopia. The result is a radio service that reflects the community it serves.
Kurtopia Radio is live now. Residents can tune in by visiting any Kurtopia region and enabling media in their viewer. The grid welcomes new residents and visitors alike.
